Design Insight: Modern Wave Curtains for a London Apartment
Miss K. is a young professional living and working in London. She recently moved into a modern apartment with an integrated kitchen and study area in the living room, plus a separate bedroom.
While the space was bright and contemporary, the large living room window felt bare and slightly cold—especially during the winter months. Miss K. wanted curtains that would add warmth and softness without disrupting the clean, modern style of her home.
After discussing her lifestyle and how the living space is used throughout the day, we designed a tailored curtain solution that balances aesthetics, practicality, and comfort.
The Design Solution
To meet Miss K.’s needs, we focused on the following key elements:
A modern look that complements contemporary London interiors
Practical access to the balcony
Daytime privacy for the living, kitchen, and study areas
Improved thermal comfort throughout the year

Wave Curtains for a Wide Living Room Window
Wave curtains were selected for the living room window due to their elegant, fluid appearance. Their soft, uniform waves create a sleek and modern look that complements contemporary city living and adds visual calm to the space.
One-Side Opening for Balcony Access
As the living room window also functions as a balcony door, the curtains needed to open neatly from one side only. Wave curtains naturally form a compact and tidy stack when drawn back, making them ideal for this layout and ensuring smooth access without visual clutter.

Sheer Curtains for Daytime Privacy
Sheer curtains were installed behind the main curtains to allow natural light to filter into the living room during the day while maintaining privacy. This keeps the space bright and welcoming without compromising comfort.

Chenille Curtains for Warmth and Insulation
The sheer curtains were paired with silver chenille curtains, adding softness and texture to the interior. In addition to their refined appearance, the chenille fabric improves thermal insulation—helping to retain warmth in winter and maintain a comfortable indoor environment year-round.
Customer Feedback
Miss K. was delighted with the final result and kindly permitted us to share photographs of her curtains on our website.
Styling Tip
When Miss K. shared a photo, we noticed a small detail. For the best visual effect, both curtain edges should sit neatly against the wall, and the waves should flow consistently from the first to the last. We sent her instructions below and assisted her in making this adjustment. She confirmed that this minor tweak made a noticeable difference to the overall finish.
We didn’t request a final photo, as we’re confident the result will be flawless.
